CENTRAL EXCISES
G.8.R. 522(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, read with sub-section (3) of the section 3 of the Additional Duties of Excise (Goods of; Special Importance) Act, 1957 (58 of 1957), the Central Government! being satisfied that the recent floods in Morvi Malia in the State of Gujarat were in the nature of a major calamity, hereby exempts patent md proprietary medicines, cotton fabrics and woollen fabrics falling respectively under Item Nos. 14E, 19 and 21 of first Schedule to the Central Excise and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944) donated or purchased out of the cash donati ons, for the relief of tbe people affected by flood in Morvi. Malia in the said state from the whole of the duty of excise and additional duty of excise leviable thereon :
(a) it is certified by the manufacturer of such goods on the relevant clearance documents that the gopds are intended to be donated for the relief of flood affected people in Morvi Malia in the said state, without discrimination on the grounds of religion, race,or caste or any of them and distributed free aria without making any charge therefor;
(b) the goods arc sent directly from the factory of manufacture to relief agencies duly approved by the aaid State ;
(c) the manufacturer produces, before the Central Excise Officer-in-Charge of the factory within two months of the date bf removal of the goods from the factory or such extended perio da the Collector of Central F.xdse may allow, a certi- ficate from the District Collector or Deputy Commissioner in-charge of Morvi Malia in the said State that the goods have been distributed free and without mating any charge therefor among tbe flood affected people in Morvi Malia without discrimination on the grounds of
religion, race or caste or any of them.
