G.S.R. 589(E).—In exercise of the power? conferred by sub-uection (1) of section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951) read with sub- rule (2) of rule 9 of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, the Central Government, in consultation with the State Governments and the Union Public Service Commission, hereby makes the following regulations further to amend the Tndian Administrative Service (Appointment by Selection) Regulations, 1956, namely :—
1. (1) These regulations may be called the Indian Administrative Service
(Appointment by Selection) Amendment Regulations, 1979.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official
Gazette.
2. In the Indian Administrative Service (.Appointment by Selection) Regu-
lations, 1956 in regulation 3—•
(1) in sub-regulation (1), in the first proviso—
(a) in the opening sentence, for the words "shall not ordinarily con- sider", the words "shall not consider" shall be substituted; (b) for the figure and word "52 years", the figure and word "54 years"
shall be substituted;
(2) after sub-regulation (2), the following sub-regulation shall be inserted,
namely:—
"(22A) The suitability of a person for appointment to the Service shall be determined by a scrutiny of his confidential roll and by inter- viewing him."
