NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 25th January, 1980
S.O. 74(E).—Whereas for the purpose of holding a general election to the House of the People, the President of India had by notification issued under section 14 of the Represen- tation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), and published in the Gazette of India on the 3rd December, 1979 called upon the parliamentary constituencies to elect members to the House of the People ;
232 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(ii)] FXECnON COMMISSION OF INDIA section 52 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and rported the fact to the Election Commission ; NOTIFICATIONSAnd whereas under the said section air proceedings with reference to the said election have to be commenced a new in all respects as if for a new election;
And wherctw the Election Commission has recommended the 25th January, 1980, as the date on which the President of India may be pleased to publish a notification in the Gazette of India calling upon 26-Serampore Parliamentary Constituency to elect a member to the House of the People ;
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions contained in section 14 of the Representation of the People Act 1951 (43 of 1951), the President 1" pleased to call upon 26-Seram- porc Parliamentary Constituency to elect a member to the House of the People in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the ralea and orders made thereunder.

No. 492/WB-HP/79(l).—In pursuance of the provisions of section 30 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Election Commission hereby appoints, with respect to the election to be held in 26-Scrampore parliamen- tary Constituency in the State of West Bengal, In pursuance of the President's notification published in the Gazette of Indhi on the 25th January, 1980:—
(a) the 1st February, 1980 (Friday), a" the last date for making nomination* ;
(b) the 2nd February, 1980 (Saturday), as the date for the scrutiny of nominations;
(e) the 4th February. 1980 (Monday), m the last dtt* for the withdrawal of candidatures ;
(d) the 24th February, 1980 (Sunday), as the date
(•) the 29th February, 1980 (Friday), as the date b"- fore which the election shall be completed.
No. 492/WB-HP/79(2).—In pursuance of the provisions of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Election Commission hereby fixes the hour* from 8.00 a.m. to 4.01) p.m. as the hours during which a poll shall if necessary bo taken at the election to the House of the People from 26-Serampore Parliamentary Constituency in the State of West Bengal in pursuance of the President's notification published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated the 25th January, 1980.
