Subject: Import Policy for April 1980-March 1981

File No. IPC/3/9/8O-I—Attention is invited to the Import Policy for April 1980-March 1981, published under the Depart- ment of Commerce Public Notice No. 9-ITC(PN)/80, dated the 15th April, 1980

2. The following amendments shall be deemed to have been made in the said rmport Policy at the appropriate places indi- cated below:—

1. 27 Chapter 17, Registered Exporters para 131

After the existing sub-para (2), the following sub-para shall be added:— "(3) import of components/modules of electronic watches mentioned in Appendix 8 of this policy will not be permitted under the facility provided in sub-para (1).

(4) The facility provided in sub-para (1) will also not be avaible for import of items appearing in Apcndices 4 and 9.

(5) Value restriction of 20%Tsubjcct to a maximum of Rs. 1.0 lakb laid down in sub-para (1) in respect of a single banned item will not apply for imports against REP licences where the same item appears in column 4 in Appendix 17 against the relevant export product without any value restriction."

3. In case of item 5 in para 2 above, namely, components/

modules of electronic watches etc. import against licences al-

ready issued will be allowed only to the extent covered by irre-

vocable letters of credit opened through authorised dealers in

foreign exchange before the date of this Public Notice.

4. The following amendments shall also be deemed to have

been made in the Hand Book of Import-Export Procedures,

1980-81, published under the Department of Comrneice Public

Notce No. 10-ITC(PN)/80 dated the 15th April, 1980, at the

appropriate places indicated belows;—
