CENTRAL EXCISES
G.S.R. 636fE).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 294/77-Ccntral Excises dated the 17th September, 1977, the Central Govern- ment hereby exempts impregnated filter paper, falling under sub-item (2) of Item No. 17 of the First Scnednle to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 ll of 1944) in respect of the first clearances of such paper for home consump- tion by or on bchnlf of a manufacturer from one or more factories upto a quantity of one thousand tonnes, cleared during a financial year, from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon:
Provided that the exemption contained in this notification shall, dur-ng the remaining period of the financial year 1980-81 after the commencement of this notification, be applicable to clearances of the said paper upto a quantity of four hundred and fifty tonnes in terms of this notification.
