No. 25015/1/81-T.—The Government of India are deeply concerned about the fluctuating prices and the need for the long-term arrangements to protect the interests of both pro- ducers and consumers in the case of perishable agricultural commodities like onion, potato, vegetables, etc. While it is not possible for any Government agency to operate a price support mechanism for perishable commodities as in the case of foodgrains, an effective and appropriate method is the pro- motion of farmers own organisation for the purchase and murkcting of such commodities.

4. The Group will submit its report to Government by the 28th February, 1981.

Ordered that a copy of the Resolution be communicated to all Ministries /Departments of the Government of India, all State Governments and Union Territory Administrations and nil concerned.
