NOTIFICATIONS

New Delhi, the 25th March, 1981G.S.R. 206(E).— In exorcise of the powers conferred by Section 15 of the Government Savings Banks Act, 1873 (5 of 1873), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Post Office Savings Bank Rules, 1965, namely:— 1. (1) These rules may be called the Post Office Savings Banks (Amendment) Rules, 1981. (2) They shall come into force on the date of (heir publi- cation in the Official Gazette. (509) 1494 GI/80

2. In tho Post Office Savings Banks Rules, 1965, in item 4 of the Table below rule 3, after sub-item (a), tho following sub- item shall be inserted, namely:—

NOTE:—In the case of a joint account for purchase of a tractor, the word, "pledgers" means all joint holders who shall have to sign jointly in operating the account".

[No. F. 3(2)-NS/77] G.9.R. 207(E).—In pursuance of rule 9 of the Post Office Savings Banks Rules, 1965 and in partial modification of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Hnance (Department of Economic Affairs) No. G.S.R. 554(E) dated the 28th September, 1979, the Central Govern- ment hereby notifies that the interest on the balance at credit of such Security Deposit Account as is opened by any person who is required to deposit security in connection with the purchase of a motor vehicle or any person singly or persons jointly who is or are required to deposit security in connection with the purchase of a tractor, shall be allowed at the rate of 5 per cent per annum.
