NOTIFICATIONS

New Delhi, the 16th November. 1981O.N. 80(E).—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the Council of States due to the death of Shri S. K. Vaisham- payan, a member elected to the Council of States from Maharashtra, before the expiration of his term of office; Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of sub- section ( I) of Section 147 of the representation of the People 950 GI/81 (93)

O.N. 81(Er).—In pursuance of the provision! of sub- toction (11 of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. I0O|CS-MTUiSl(l), dated 16th November. 1981.—

(a) 23 November, 1981 (Monday), as the last date for

making nominations;

(b) 24 November, 1981 (Tuesday), as the date for tbe scrutiny of nominations;

(c) 26 November, 1981 (Thursday), as the last date

for the withdrawal of candidatures;

(d) 3 December. 1981 (Thursday), as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and

(e) 7 'December, 1981 (Monday), as the date before which the election shall be completed.

O.N. 82(E).—In pursuanct of section 56 of the Represen- tation of the People Act, 1951. the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100|CS-MT|ll81 (1), dated 16th November. 1981.

B30P).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sec- tion 21 of the Representation cf the People Act, 1951. the Election Commission, in consultation with tho Government of Maharashtra hereby designates Shri M. G. Rane, Deputy Secretary, Maharashtia Legislature Secietarint, to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be heid in pursuance of its notification No. 100|CS-MT|ll81 CD, dated 16 November, 1981.

O.N. 84(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints Shri V. K. Deshpande, Under Secretary, Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat, to assist the Returninu Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notifica- tion No. 100ICS-MTUI81 (1) dated the 16th November. 1981, in the performance of hii functions.
