G.S.K. 647(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 79 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Centual Government hereby make3 the following rules further to amend the Transfer of Residence Rules, 1978, namely :—
1. (1) These Rules may be called the Transfer of Residence (Amendment)
.Rules, 1981 ;
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the
Official Gazette.
2. In the Transfer of Residence Rules, 1978, in rule 2 for the Explanation,
the following Explanation shall be substituted, namely :—
"Hxplonation.—For the purpose of this lule, the expression 'Personal anil household effects' shall not include so much of gold jewellery that is to say, jewellery of which the value is mainly on account of gold content, as is in excess of the value of onei thousand five hundred rupees in the case of a male pnssenger nnJ three thousand rupees in1 the casa of a female passenger and the said limit* shall not, however, apply to the jewellery in respect of which the Assis- tant Collector of Customs is satisfied on the basis of the evidence oroduccd that it had been laktii out of India bv the passenger or by a member of his or her family.
