ELECTION COMMISSION OP INDIA
NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi, the 1st March, 1982
O.N. 6(E).—Whereas the President has, by notification published in the Gazette of India on the 1st March, 1982 called upon the members of the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat State to elect to the Council of States four members from that State ;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 the Election Commission hereby appoints with respect to the said election—
(a) 8 March, 1982 (Monday), as the last date for making
nominations;
(b) 9 March, 1982 (Tuesday), as the date for the scrutiny
of nominations;
(c) 11 March, 1982 (Thursday) as the last date for the
withdrawal of candidatures,
(d) 19 March. 1982 (Friday), as the date on which
a poll shall, if necessary be taken; and
(e) 25 March. 1982 (Thursday), as the date before which
the election shall be completed.

O.N. 7(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sec- tion 56 of the Representation of the People Act, J951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the houri from 10.00 a.m. lo 1.00 p.m. as the hours during which the poll shall, if necessary, be taken at the biennial elections to the Council of States from the State of Gujarat to be held in pursuance of the President's notification published in the Gazette of India on the 1st March, 1982.

O.N. 9(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-
section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints Shri K, M. Panchal, Under Secretary, Gujarat Legislature Secre- tariat, Gandhinagar, to assist the Returning Officer, appointed vide Commission's Notification No. 318|82(3), dated the 1st March, 1982, for the State of Gujarat, in [fie performance of his functions.
