G.S.K. 508(E).—In exercise of Ihc powers conferred by section 17 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Cess Act, 1977 (36 of 1977), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules to amend the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Cebs Rules, 1978, namely:—
1. (i) Short title and commencement.—-These rules may be" Called ihe

(ii) They shall come into force on the date of their publicatibn in the .-^-'.- Official Gazette. • • • • • - •-
2. In sub-rule (2) of rule 5 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pol- lution) Cess Rules, 1978 for the words "Pay and Accounts Officer, Ministry of Works and Housing", the words "Pay and Accounts Officer, Department of Environment" shall be substituted.
