Subject.—Import of goods from Polish People's Republic—Payment against.
F. No. IPC/12/82-83.—The Trade and Payments Agreement concluded by ihc Government of India with the Polish People's Republic for the years ly81 to 1985 provides that export of goods and services from Poland to India shall be expressed in US dollars, but payments will be effected in non-converti- ble Indian Rupees. It is accordingly notilied for the information of the importers that all contracts concluded under this Agreement and commercial and finan- cial documents relating thereto for the imports of goods and services from, the Polish People's Republic shall be expressed in US dollars. For crediting the account of the Bank Handlowy Warsaw, US dollars will be converted into rupees ot the dollar/rupee rate obtained on the batjs of ;—•
(a) Ihc previous working day's closing middle rate for the dollar in
terms of pound sterling in the London Market; and
(b) the middle rate of the commercial bank maintaining the account ol1 Bank Hontliowy, Warsaw, for buying and selling pound sterling in terms of Indian rupees.
