1 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II— SEC ^ij]of a shade approved by the Indian Standards Institution and conforming to the specifications for white printing paper as notified by the said Institution, and falling under sub-item (1) of item No. 17 of the First Schedule to the Central Ex- cises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), from so much of the duty of excise leviable thereon under the said Act at the date specified in the said First Schedule, as is in excess of 5 pei cent of the actual wholesale cash price charged for such white punting paper, whether fixed by the Government under the Paper Control Order 1979, or any higher price authorised by Hny court :
Provided that the proper officer is satisfied thui such paper
is tupplied—
t><(j) to the Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals .
No. 281/82-CENTRAL EXCISES or
(u) for various educational purposes (such as, for text books, exercise books and University examinations).
Explanation.—For the purpose of this notification, the ex- pression "wholesale cash price" means the wholesale ex-fac- tory price, excluding all Central and State levies.
G.S.R. 718(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (i) of rule 8 of the Ccntial Excise Rule^, 1944, the Centi al Government hereby makes the following further amend- ment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and Banking) No. 68/76-Central Excises, dated the 16th March, 1976, namely :—
