G.S.R 767IE)—In exercise of the poweis conferred by section 11C of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), ihe Central Government, beintf satisfied that according to a practice thai wm genually prevalent iegardinj( levy of duty oi excise < including non-levy thcieof) under the said Act on unpiocessed cotton inhiifs, falling under suh*itcm l(a) of Item No. 19 of the First Schedule to the sjid Act, and manufactured on power looms working umfci special procedure presobed undei mle 96 I of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, such duty was not being levied under the said Act dunnn the pciiod fiom the 15th July, 1077 !o the 7th Octohei, 1980, hereby diiccfs that the whole of the duty of excise leviable under the said Act nt the iatcs fixed in pursuance of rule 96J of the said mles on such f vbrics, shall not he inquired to be paid in respect of such fabiicb manufactured on power looms in respect of which an application had been made to the Textile Commissioner foi written permission for the in- stallation and working of ihe said power looms on or before the 31st December, 1979, and on which duty of excise leviable under the .said Act at the lates fixed in puisujncc of rule 96T of the said mles had not been paid dmins the ssid period in a:coidance with the said practice
