NOTIFICATIONS

New Delhi, the 12th January, 1983

O.N. 2(E).—Whereas, for the purpose uf holding a general election to (he Homo of the People the President had, by notification issued under sub-section (?) of rection 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951) and pub- lished In an Extraordinary issue of the Gazette of India dated 3rd December, 1979, called upon all the parliamentary con- stituencies to elect members to the said House;

And whereas, the Election Commission in pursuance of

Section 30 of tho safd Act, appointed the 10th December, 1979 n:> the last dafo fur making nominations and 13th December, 1979 as the last dato for (ho v ithdrawal of candidatures;

And whereas, either no nomination was filed or all the valid'y nominated candidate¹* withdrew their candidatures by the above mentioned dates from the following parliamentary constituencies in the State of Assam :—

4. Dhubrl 5. Kokrajhar (ST> 6. Barpeta 7. Gauhati 8. Mangaldoi 9. Tezpur

10. NowgAong 11. Kaiiabor 12. Jorhat 13. Dibrugarh 14. Lakhimpur

And whereas, the said constituencies thus failed to elect members to the House of tho People at tlio aforesaid election and the seats allotted to the said constituencies remained vacant in that House constituted under section 73 of the said Act;

Now, thorefore, in pursuance of the provisions of sub- section (3) of section 53 of tho said Act and in exercise of all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the said constituencies to elect persons to fill the said vacancios before thc 28th February, 1983, In accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the Rules and Orders made thereunder.
