NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi, the 14th January, 1983
O.N. 8(E).—Whereas, for the purpose of holding a general election to the House of the People, the President had, by notification issued under sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951) and published in an Extraordinary issue of the Gazette of India dated 3rd December, 1979, called upon all the parliamentary constituencies to elect members to the said House ;
And whereas, the Election Commission in pursuance of section 30 of the said Act, appointed the 13th December, 1979 as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures ;
And whereas, all the validly nominated candidates, from 1-Shillong parliamentary constituency in the State of Megha- laya at the said election withdrew their candidature by the said date:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (3) of seel ion 53 of the said Act and in exercise of all olher powers enabling it in tbig beh Of, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the suid constituency 10 elect :i person to fill the said vacnncy before the 28th Febiuaiy. 1983, in accor- dance with the provisions of the said Act and of the Rules aud Orders made thereunder.

O.Ni 9(E).—In pursuance of section 30 of the Representa- tion of the People Ac*, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Flection Commi- ssion hereby appoints with respect to the election to the House of the People from l-Shillcjng Parliamentary constituency in (he State of Mcghalaya to be held in pursuance of its notifi- cation No. 464/MEG-HP/83(l) dated 14tli January, 1983—
{u) the 21st January, 1983 (Friday) as the last dale foe making nominations;
(b) the 22nd January, 1983 (Saturday) as the date for the
scrutiny of nominations;
(c) the 24lh January, 1983 (Monday) a5 the last date foi the withdrawal of candidatures;
(d) the 17th February, 1983 (Thmsday) us ths dale on whi;h a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and
(e) the 28th February, 1983 (Monday
as the date before which the election shall be completed.
