NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 16th March, 1983
G.S,P. 271 (E):- In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Public Provident Fund Act, 1968 (23 of 1968), the Central Gmcirnunt hereby makes the following Scheme further to ameiid the Public Provident Find SC'IJ ns, 1W3, 11 njly: —
1. (1) This Scheme may bo called the Public Provident Fund (Amendment) Scheme, 1983.
(2) Paragraph 2 of this Scheme shall come into force on the date of its publication in the OficUl G.izctte a id the romilmay paragraphs shall come into force from 1st Apiil, 1983.
2. In the Public Provident FUHL Scheme, 1968 (hereinafter referred to as the said Scheme), in paragraph 3, for ihelctters and figures 'Rs. 30,000, leHcis am figures'Rs. 40,000' shul bo substitute 1.
3. In r-atagi aphs 4 of the said Scheme, for sub-paragraph (3), the following sub-paragraph shall be substituted, namely :—
"(?) The subsciiber shall deposit his subscription with the accounts office with a challan In Form B, or as noar thereto as possible. The counterfoils of the challan shall be returned to the depositor by the accounts office, duly evidenced by rece'pt.
In the case of deposits mu.de by cheque or draft or postal oi dor, the accounts office may issue a paper token to the depositor pending realisation of the proceeds."
4. In paiagraph 7 of the said Scheme, for sub-paragraph (2), the following sub-paragraph shall bo substituted, namely:—
"(2) A Kubscribei who fails to subscribe in any year according to the limits specified in paragraph 3, may approach the accounts effice for conc'onatviji of (lie default, on payment, for each year of default, a fee of Rs. 10 along with aricar subscription of Rs. 100 for each such year."
5. In paragraph 9 of the said Scheme, the following sub-paragraph shall be inserted after sub-paragraph (2), namely:—'
"(2A) Subject to tho piwisions of sub-paragiaph (3), a subscriber may, on expiry of 15 years from the end of the year in which the initial subscription wts mitdc and in case he does not intend to close the account immediately, inform tho accounts office In Fi-im H, or as near thereto as possible, that—
(a) he would continue to subscribe for a further bloc K peiiod of J yen •- according to the limils prescribed in paragraph 3, or (b) he would not make any further subscription.
In the event of a subsciiber, desiring to subscribe during the aforesaid block period, he would be eligible to make one partial with- draw ai, at any time during that period, cqun.1 to 50 per cent of the balance at his credit at the com.nancement of the block period, by a, iply- ing to the accounts; office in Foim C, or as near thereto as possible, together with his pass bsik.
Note: Asubsaibei maj alsoavailof this facility for a further block of Syearson exphy of 20 years (or on expiry of25yoirs, "s the case may be) from the end of the year in which the initial subscription was made.
