The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 2nd September, 1983 and is hereby published for general informa- tion:—

THE SOCIETIES REGISTRATION (DELHI AMEND-

MENT) ACT, 1983

No. 26 OF 1983

[2nd September, 1983]

An Act further to amend the Societies Registration Act, 1860 as in force in the Union territory of Delhi.

BE it enacted by Parliament in the Thirty-fourth Year of the Republic of India as follows: —

1. (1) This Act may be called the Societies Registration (Delhi Amendment) Act, 1983.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 22nd day of

2. In the Societies Registration Act, 1860, an in force in the Union territory of Delhi (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act),—

Amend- ment of Act 21 of 1860. (a) in the long title, for the words "Literary, Scientific, and Charitable Societies", the words "Welfare, Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies" shall be substituted; (b) in the preamble, for the words "promotion of literature, science, or the fine arts", the words "promotion of social welfare, activities conducive to the protection and improvement of the natural ( 1) 2 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—Sac. i]

environment (including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life), com- passion for living creatures, literature, science, sports, games or the fine arts" shall be substituted;

(c) in section 20, for the words "promotion of science, literature, or the fine arts", the words "promotion of social welfare, activities conducive to the protection and improvement of the natural environ- ment (including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life), compassion for living cretrteres; literature, science, sports, games or the fine arts" shall be substituted.

3. (1) The Societies Registration (Delhi Amendment) Ordinance. 1&83 3 of 1983.

is hereby repealed.

Repeal and saving.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act.
