G.S.R. 709 (E).—In exercise of the powers con- ferred by suD-section (1) ot section 25 ot the Cus- toms Act, 1962 (52 ot 1962) and in supersession or me notification ot the Government ot India in the Ministry ot Finance, Department of Revenue No. 201-Customs, dated the 14th October, 1980, ihe Central Government, being satisiied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts gold, tailing under Heading No. 71.05|ll (1) ot tne First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 197 5), when imported into India under the Scheme for export of gold ornaments and articles (other than coins) against gold supplied by the foreign buyer notified by the Government ot India in the Ministry of Commerce (Depart- ment of Commerce) in the Public Notice No. 39- ITC(PN)|80, dated the J4th October, 1980, or the Scheme for export of gold ornaments and arti- cles (other than coins) for sale at exhibitions ab- road notified by the Government of India in the Ministry of Commerce in the Public Notice No, 1O-1TC(PN)]83, dated the 15th April, 1983, from the whole of the duvy of customs leviable thereon under the said First Schedule, subject to the condi- tions that—
(i) the import is covered by a general or specific permit issued by the Reserve Bank of India;
between the importer and the foreign supplier of gold, or such extended period as the Assistant Collector of Customs on sufficient cause being shown may allow, and binding himself to pay on demand duty on a quantity of gold representing the difference between the quantity im- ported and that contained in the expor- ted ornaments or articles.

G.S.R. 710(E).—In exercise of the powers con- ferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Cus- toms Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), read with sub-sec- tion (4) of section 45 of the Finance Act, 1983 (11 of 1983), the Central Government, being satis- fied, that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 126|83-Cu",toins, da'cd the 13th May, 1983, namely :—
In the Schedule- to the said notification,—
(a) Serial No. 166 and the entry relating thereto shall be omitted;
(b) after Serial No. 229 and the entry rela- ting thereto, the following Serial No. and entry shall be inserted, namely :—
