NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 15th November, 1983
S,O. 812(E).—-In exercise of the power, conferred by section 3 of the Foreigners Act, 1945 (3 of 1946j the Central Govern- ment hereby makes the following order, namely :—
1. (I) This order may be called the Foreigners (Proof of
Identity) Order, 1983.
(2) It shall come into force on the 20th Nov., 1983 and shall
remain in force till the 5th December, 1983.
2. Every foreigner who is required to be in possession of a passport or any other kind of travel documcnl for purpose of entry into India shall carry with him at all times, while he is in Delhi, Goa, Agra, Jaipur and Jodhpur, his passport or such other travel document as is required to be in his possession or other proof of his identity as also the certificate of legislration and residential permit if any, issued to him under the Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1939 and the Foreigners Order, 1948, and shall be liable to produce the same on demand to any police officer of or above the rank of a constable or to any other officer concerned with internal security or work in respect of foreigners.
