NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi, the 9th December, 1983
No. 287|83-Central Excises
G.S.R. 883(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government, hereby exempts wooden pencil slats, falling under Item No. 68 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon under section 3 of the said Act.
Provided that the Assistant Collector of Cent- ral Excise is satisfied that such wooden pencil slats are intended for manufacture of writing pencils.
2 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(0] No. 288[83-Central ExcisesG.S.R. 884(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Cent- ral Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 81|83-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1983, namely :—
In the said notification, after action Serial No. 92 and the entry relating thereto, the following Serial No. and entry shall be inserted, namely:—
"93 No. 287[83-Central Excises, dated 9th
DEC. '83".
