NOTIFICATIONS

NO. 292|83-CENTRAL EXCISES
G.S.R. 894(E).—In, exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby exempts copper pipes and tubes, falling under sub-item (3) of Item No. 26A of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), and supplied to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited for the manufacture of ther- mal power equipments to be used in the initial setting up of a thermal power station, from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon under section 3 of the said Act:
Privided that the General Manager of Bharal Heavy Electricals Limited —-
fi) certifies that such copper pipes and tubes are required for the manufacture of thermal power equipments to be used in the initial setting up of a ther- mal power station;
lu) gives sn undertaking at the time of clearance of such copper pipes and tub;s that he will satisfy the proper officer of the Central Excise within one yair of tlr? dale of clearance of the said copper pipes and tubes, that the same have actually been used for the said purpose; and
fiii) executes a bond binding Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, to pay, on de- mand, in respect of such copper pipes and tubes as are not proved to the satisfaction of the proper officer of the Central Excise to have actually been used for the aforesaid purpose, an amount equal to the duty leviable on the said copper pipes and tubes but for the exemption contained in this notification.

G.S.R. 895(E).—In exercise of the powers con- ferred by rule (1) of rule 8 of the On Ira I Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following furrher arm.-nd^nt in the notifka'ion of the Government of nsdiu in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Re- venue) No. 8l]83-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1983, namely :-—
Tn the Schedule to the said notification, after SI No. 95 and the entry relating thereto, the fol- lowing SI. No. and entry shall be inserted, namely :—
"96. No. 292|83-Central Excises, dated the 17th December, 1983.".
