G.S.R, 928(E).—fa exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is neces- sary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes I lie following amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 23[83- Customs dated the 14th February, 1983, namely :—
In the said notification, —
(i) in paragraph 1, for the words "from ihe whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule", the words "from so much of that portion of the duty of customs leviable thereon which is specified in the said First Schedule as is in excess of the amount calculated at the rate of 20 per cent ad valorem" shall be substituted;
(ii) in paragraph 2, for the figures, letters and words "31st day of December, 1983", the figures, letters and words "30th day of June, 1984" shall be substituted.
