New Delhi, the 12th March, 1984
S.O. J -:7(E).—In pursuance of section 12 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the President is pleased to call upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Meghalaya, to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and the rules and orders made thereunder, a member for filling the seat of the member of the Council of States who would be retiring on the 12th April, 1984 on the expiration of his term of office.
