NOTIFICATION
No. 163[84-CENTRAL EXCISES
G.S.R. 534(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sec- tion 11C of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944). .the Central Government, being satisfied that according to a prac- tice that was generally prevalent regarding levy of the duty of excise (including non-levy thereof), under the said Act, the duty of excise on polyacrilonitrils powder falling under sub-item (1) of Item No. 15A of the First Schedule to the said Act and used in the lactory of production for the manufacture of acrylic fibre, was not being levied under section 3 of the said Act, during the period commencing on the 1st March, 1982 and ending with the 30th September, 1982, hereby directs that the whole of the duty of excise leviable under the said Act and the special duty of excise leviable under sub-section (1) of section 50 of the Fin- ance Act, 1982 (14 of 1982), on such polyacrilonitrile powder, siiall not be required to be paid in respect of such polyacriloni- trile powder, on which the duty of excise and special -luty of excise was not levied during the period aforesaid, in accordance with the said practice.
