ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA

O.N. 44(E).—Whereas a vacancy has occur- red in the Council of States due to the resigna- tion of Shri Bhishma Narain Singh a member elected to Council of States from Bihar before the expiration of his term of office;
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 147 of the Represen- tation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected mem- bers of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Bihar to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before 31st August, 1984.

SQii)™O.N. 46(E).—In exercise of the powers con* ferred by section 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 10.00 A.M. to 2.00 P.M. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100|CS-BR|l|84 (1), dated the 8th August, 1984.

O.N. 47(E).~—In exercise of the powers con- ferred by section 21 of the Representation 6f the people Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Bihar, hereby appoints the Secretary, Legislative As- sembly, Bihar, to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100|CS-BR| 1|84 (1), dated 8th August, 1934.
O.N. 45(E).—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Represen- tation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100|CS-BR|l |84 (1), dated the 8th August, 1984,

(a) the 16th August, 1984 (Thursay), as
the last date for making nominations;
(b) the 17th August, 1984 (Friday), as the
date for the scrutiny oi' nominations ;
(c) the 21st August, 1934. (Tuesday), as the last date for withdrawal of candi- datures;
(d) the 28th August, 1984 (Tuesday), as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and
(e) the 31st August, 1984 (Friday), as the date before which the election shall be completed.
