Subject: Bye-Elections to casual vacancies in Gram Panchayats of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Diu District - reg

With reference to the subject cited above, a copy of Commission's Notification No. 7-7/EC/DNHⅅ/2025 dated 09.01.2026 and Notification No. 7/EC/DNHⅅ/2025(A) dated 09.01.2026 received from the Secretary to Election Commissioner for UTs, New Delhi is hereby published in the Official Gazette of the U.T. of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu for kind information.

NOTIFICATION

Whereas General Elections to Panchayats and Municipal Councils in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu were held in October / November. 2025;

And whereas, there was no contesting candidate in the following wards of Gram Panchayats in Dadra and Nagar Haveli District during the aforesaid General Elections: -

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 39 (2) read with Rule 29 of the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Panchayats (Election Procedures) Rules, 2023 the Election Commission for Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu hereby calls upon the said wards to elect a member each to fill the said vacancies in accordance with the provision of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Panchayats Regulation, 2012 and the said Rules and Orders made thereunder, With respect to the said bye election, the Election Commission hereby appoints the following dates:-

a) the 16th January, 2026 (Friday), between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., as the last date and hours for making nominations;

b) the 17th January, 2026 (Saturday), 11.00 a.m., office of the respective Returning Officer, as the date, time and place for the scrutiny of nominations;

c) the 19th January, 2026 (Monday), 3.00 p.m., as the last date and hour for the withdrawal of candidatures;

d) the 8th February, 2026 (Sunday), between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., as the date on which and the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and

e) the 13th February, 2026 (Friday), as the date before which the election shall be completed.

Whereas a casual vacancy has occurred in Ward No 1/8 of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Gram Panchayat in Diu District, Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, due to death of its member;

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 111 read with Rule 29 of the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Panchayats (Election Procedures) Rules, 2023 the Election Commission for Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu hereby calls upon the said ward to elect a member to fill the said vacancy in accordance with the provision of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Panchayats Regulation, 2012 and the said Rules and Orders made thereunder;
