NOTIFICATION

Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar, 31st December, 2025.

GUJARAT MUNICIPALITIES ACT, 1963.

KV/418 of 2025/UDUHD/CMO/e-file/18/2024/8493/M:- WHEREAS in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 243Q and clause (d) of Article 243P of the Constitution of India, the Government of Gujarat vide Government notification, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, No. GV/417 of 2025/UDUHD/CMO/ e-file/18/2024/8493/M Section, dated the 31st December, 2025, has included certain areas in the Vijapur Municipality;

AND WHEREAS the number of Wards and Seats of Councillors and number of seats to be reserved for Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Women are required to be ascertained in accordance with the figures of the population of the areas of the VIJAPUR Municipality as declared on the basis of Census-2011 as also in view of the provisions of sections 6 and 7 of the Act, 1963; 186-1 I-A Ex.-¹⁸⁶ 186-2 GUJARAT GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, EX., 31-12-2025 [ PART I-A NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 7 read with sub-sections (2) and (3) of section 6 of the Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963 (Guj. 34 of 1964), and in supersession of all the notifications made in this behalf so far as the VIJAPUR Municipality is concerned, the Government of Gujarat hereby determines, as follows:

(1) The areas of the VIJAPUR Municipality shall be divided into 7 Wards and the Municipality shall consist of 28 Councillors:

(2) Out of the 28 seats of Councillors, -

(i) 2 Seats shall be reserved for the persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes, out of which 1 seat shall be reserved for the women belonging to the Scheduled Castes;

(ii) 8 Seats shall be reserved for the persons belonging to the Backward Classes, out of which 4 seats shall be reserved for the women belonging to the Backward Classes;

(iii) 14 seats shall be reserved for the women (including the number of seats reserved for women belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes) referred to above.

Saving: Nothing Contained in this notification shall affect anything done with respect to the determination of wards and seats of the VIJAPUR Municipality, prior to the commencement of this notification.
