No. 19/01/2019-3PH.— In partial modification of the Government Notification No. 17/2/2011-PH3 – dated 6th May, 2011 The Governor of Haryana is pleased to rename and reconstitute the District Water and Sanitation Mission as District Water & Sewerage Mission (DWSM) in all the Districts of Haryana State.

The Mission shall meet at least quarterly. However, the frequency of meetings can be more keeping in view the public interest and development of the District.
HARYANA GOVT. GAZ., (EXTRA.), DEC. 13, 2019 (AGHN. 22, 1941 SAKA) 4483The functions of the DWSM shall be as follows :-
• Formulation, management and monitoring of projects and progress on drinking water and sewerage in rural areas;
• Scrutiny and approval of the schemes submitted by the Block Panchayat / Gram Panchayat and forwarding them to SWSM / WSSB where necessary;
• Selection of agencies and NGOs and enter into agreements for social mobilization, capacity development, communication, project management and supervision;
• Sensitizing the public representatives, officials and general public;
• Engaging institutions for imparting training for capacity development of all stakeholders, and undertaking communication campaign;
• Coordination of matters relating to Water and Sewerage between district representatives of Health, Education, Forests, Agriculture, Rural Development etc. as well as National programmes such as SSA, NRHM, ICDS, etc; and
• Interaction with SWSM, State Government and the Government of India.
• The DWSM will set up the Village Water and Sewerage Committee (VWSCs) under its jurisdiction.
• The notification issued vide No. 17/2/2011-PH3 dated 6th May, 2011 stands cancelled.
