No.509-SW(1)2020.— The Governor of Haryana is pleased to constitute a Committee regarding eliminating the manual cleaning of sewers and septic tanks as per table given below:-

3.	Chief Administrator, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikarn.	Member
4.	Administrative Secretary to Government Haryana, Urban Local Bodies Department.	Member
5.	Administrative Secretary to Government Haryana, Development & Panchayat Department.	Member
6.	Managing Director, Haryana Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation.	Member
7.	Administrative Secretary to Government Haryana, Public Health Engineering Department.	Member
8.	Secretary, Haryana State Commission for Safai Karamcharies	Member

The functions and terms of the Committee are as under:-

(i) To take necessary steps for setting up of Responsible Sanitation Authority and Emergency Response Sanitation Units.

(ii) To perform such other functions as may be prescribed by the State Government.

(iii) To monitor the activities related to payment to the families of the victims.

(iv) To take necessary steps for complete ban of manual cleaning and to provide mechanised solutions for cleaning of manholes, sewers, septic tanks, etc.

(v) To investigate, examine and monitor all matters relating to the safeguards provided for the Safai Karamcharies.

(vi) To advise on the planning process of socio-economic and educational development of manual scavengers, and to evaluate the progress of their development. (vii) The Committee will meet at least once a year.
