Notification
The 29th September, 2022
No. 260.— The Governor of Haryana is pleased to institute a State Award, namely "Smt. Sushma Swaraj Award", which shall come into effect from the financial year i.e. 2022-2023.
Detail of Award:
Smt. Sushma Swaraj Award :
This award has been named after Late Smt. Sushma Swaraj, a daughter of Haryana and an inspiration to all women.
Eligibility:
A woman who has made significant contribution or remarkable achievements in different walks of life in the national and international sphere.
Nature of Award
The Award shall consist of:
i. A Cash prize of Rs. 5.00 lakh (Rupees Five Lakh Only):
ii. A citation and a shawl.
1. Mode of Calling for nominations for the Award:-
At the State Level, an advertisement would be issued in two Hindi & two English leading newspapers, inviting nominations from the general public in prescribed form. Each Public Representative is also allowed to recommend/ nominate one candidate (Public representatives shall include MPs and MLAs). Nominations so received shall be placed before the District Level Recommending Committee, headed by concerned Deputy Commissioner, which would then recommend the case to the Director, Women & Child Development Department, Haryana Panchkula. District Level Recommending Committee also may suo moto nominate suitable candidate/candidates who are found to be eligible as per scheme guidelines.

i. Nominee should be born in Haryana and working for the cause of women.
ii. The achievement of the nominee in the relevant field should be clear and well documented.
iii. Nominee should be alive on the date of nomination
iv. The achievements of the nominee should be verified and subjected to objective appraisals v. Preference would be given to woman who has come up in mainstream of life after a great deal of struggle and adversity.
vi. The sole criteria for the selection would be performance and her dedication for the cause of women.
vii. Nominee should apply to concerned District programme Officer, ICDS/ Deputy Commissioner on prescribed application performa along with an affidavit with the declaration that there is nothing adverse pending against her/ institution for inquiry in any forum/ Department/ Court etc and in case of any wrong information/ mismanagement found in future the award and money would be returned to the Government.
3. Selection Process- Various Committees: -
(A) District Level Recommending Committee:
• Deputy Commissioner Chairman
• District Education Officer/District Elementary
Education Officer Member
• District Programme Officer (ICDS) Member Secretary
• District Social Welfare Officer Member
• Secretary, Red Cross Society /Child
Welfare Council Member
• Protection-cum-Prohibition Officer (DV Act) Member
(B) State Level Screening Committee:
• Director, Women and Child Development Department, Haryana
• Additional Director/ Joint Director (Admn.), Women & Child Development Department, Haryana
• Joint Director, Women and Child Development Department, Haryana
• Chief Accounts Officer, Women & Child Development Department, Haryana.
• Deputy Director (HQ), Women & Child Development Department, Haryana.
(C) The nominations received would be placed before the State Level Selection Committee headed by Minister of Women & Child Development comprising the following members:-
• Additional Chief Secretary to Govt. Haryana, Women
& Child Dev Deptt. Member Secy.
• Director, Women & Child Dev Deptt, Haryana Member
• Secretary, Haryana State Child Welfare Council Member
• Chairperson, Haryana State Commission for Women Member
• Secretary, Haryana State Social Welfare Board Member
• Any other member as required Member
4. Date Schedule:

• Last date for calling nominations by 1st December
• Recommendation of district Level
Recommending Committee/DC to the Deptt. by 25th December
• State Level Screening Committee by 25th January
• Meeting of State Level Selection Committee by 25th February
• Last date for informing Awardee within 10 day
The award would be presented on the occasion of International Women's Day celebration i.e 8th March and would be personally received by the awardee.
