Notification
The 2nd December, 2024
No. SEC/1ME/2024/1705.— Whereas, name of Smt. Shakti Rani W/o Sh. Venod Sharma had been notified as Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Ambala City by the State Election Commission, Haryana upon her election held on 27.12.2020 vide notification No. SEC/1ME/2021/90 dated 01.01.2021.
2. And whereas, Smt. Shakti Rani W/o Sh. Venod Sharma has been elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly, Haryana on 08.10.2024. Section 8A of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 provides: Restriction on simultaneous or double membership.- (1) No person shall be a Mayor or member of the Corporation, member of Legislative Assembly of the State or member of Parliament simultaneously.
(2) In case a Mayor or member of the Corporation is elected to the Legislative Assembly or Parliament, he shall cease to continue as a Mayor or member of the Corporation from the date he is declared as elected to the Legislative Assembly or Parliament, as the case may be.
3. In view of the above provisions, the State Election Commission, Haryana hereby de-notifies the name of Smt. Shakti Rani W/o Sh. Venod Sharma as Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Ambala City in the official Gazette w.e.f. 08.10.2024.
