Notification
The 2nd December, 2024
No. SEC/1ME/2024/1710.— Whereas, name of Sh. Nikhil Madaan S/o Sh Raj Kumar Madaan had been notified as Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Sonepat by the State Election Commission, Haryana upon his election held on 27.12.2020 vide notification No. SEC/1ME/2021/90 dated 01.01.2021.
2. And whereas, Sh. Nikhil Madaan S/o Sh Raj Kumar Madaan has been elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly, Haryana on 08.10.2024. Section 8A of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, provides: Restriction on simultaneous or double membership.- (1) No person shall be a Mayor or member of the Corporation, member of Legislative Assembly of the State or member of Parliament simultaneously.
(2) In case a Mayor or member of the Corporation is elected to the Legislative Assembly or Parliament, he shall cease to continue as a Mayor or member of the Corporation from the date he is declared as elected to the Legislative Assembly or Parliament, as the case may be.
3. In view of the above provisions, the State Election Commission, Haryana hereby de-notifies the name of Sh. Nikhil Madaan S/o Sh Raj Kumar Madaan as Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Sonepat in the official Gazette w.e.f. 08.10.2024.
