NOTIFICATION

Whereas the draft of the Karnataka Education Department Services (Department of Public Instruction) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 was published as required by clause (a) of sub-section (2) of section 3 read with Section 8 of the Karnataka State Civil Services Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1990) in Part-IVA (No.466) of the Karnataka Gazette Extraordinary dated:29.06.2026 inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby within seven days from the date of its publication in the official Gazette.

Whereas the said Gazette was made available to the public on 29.06.2026.

And whereas the objections and suggestions received from the persons likely to be affected thereby have been considered by the Government.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 read with section 8 of the Karnataka State Civil Services Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1990), the Government of Karnataka hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Karnataka Education Department Services (Department of Public Instruction) (Recruitment) Rules, 1967, namely.

RULES

1. Title and commencement, - (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Education Department Services (Department of Public Instruction) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules, 2026.

(2) They shall come into force from date of their final publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of Schedule, - In the Karnataka Education Department Services (Department of Public Instruction) (Recruitment) Rules, 1967, in the schedule after the category of post of "Graduate Primary Teacher for classes 6 to 8", in serial no.66-A and entries relating thereunder the following shall be inserted, namely:-

66 - B Computer Science Teacher (1st to 8th std) 44425- 83700 2500 By Direct Recruitment: in accordance with the rules framed by the government from time to time Must be holder of any one Bachelor's Degree as below, of a University established by law with minimum 50% of aggregate marks Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) or Bachelor of Computer Applications or Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science) / (Information Science) / (Electronics and Communication) Or Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science) / (Information Science) / (Electronics and Communication) AND M ust also obtain Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from an institution recognized by NCTE within 5 years of appointment as Computer Science Teacher in School Education Department and must also clear Teacher Eligibility Test within 5 years of appointment as Computer Science Teacher in School Education Department. P rovided that in case of a candidate belonging to the Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe / Category-I of Other Backward Classes or a candidate belonging to the category of person with disability the above requirement of marks in Bachelor's Degree shall be minimum forty-five percent.
