KARNATAKA GOVERNOR'S SECRETARIAT

NOTIFICATION

No. GS 3 GUM 2010, Bangalore, Dated: 21st June 2010

WHEREAS, In Notification No. GS 9 GUM 99, dated 18th December 1999, the Vice-Chancellors of all Universities in the State have been sanctioned a fixed pay of Rs.25,000/- per month with effect from 1st January 1996 consequent on the revision of pay scales of teaching staff of the Universities by the University Grants Commission.

WHEREAS, the revised UGC Pay Scales to the Teachers, Librarians and other teaching staff in the Universities have been extended by the State Government vide Government Order No. ED 37 UNE 2009, dated 24th December 2009. The University Grants Commission has revised the pay scale of Vice Chancellors to Rs.75,000/- per month (Fixed) and a Special allowance of Rs.5,000/- per month with effect from 1st January 2006 vide its notification No.F-3-1/2009(PS) dated 23rd September 2009.

WHEREAS, the State Government has requested the Chancellors to consider extension of revised UGC Pay Scale of Rs.75,000/- and a Special Allowance of Rs.5,000/- per month to the Vice- Chancellors of the Universities.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred Under Section 14(9) of the Karnataka State Universities Act 2000, under Section 13(6) of the Visvesvaraya Technological University Act, 1994, under Clause 1(5) of the Second Schedule to the Karnataka State Open University Act, 1992, Under Section 13(5) of the Kannada University Act, 1991, under Section 27(6) of the University of Agricultural Sciences Act, 2009,under Section 13(9) of the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University Act, 2004 under Section 12 (2) of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Act, 1994, under Section 27(6) of the University of Horticultural Sciences Act, 2009, under Section 14 (8) of Karnataka State Law University Act, 2009, I, H.R. BHARDWAJ, Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of Universities in Karnataka, am hereby pleased to sanction fixed pay of Rs.75,000/- and a Special Allowance of Rs.5,000/- per month with effect from 1st January 2006 to all the Universities established under the above mentioned Acts except Davangere University. The Vice-Chancellors are also entitled for D.A. as per UGC norms.

Payment of arrears of pay and allowances to the Vice-Chancellors shall be as contemplated under the Government Order No. ED 37 UNE 2009, dated 24th December 2009 read with UGC Notification No.F-3-1/2009(PS), dated 23rd September 2009. The Acting Vice-Chancellors who have worked in various Universities from 1st January 2006 onwards are also entitled for the revised UGC scale for the period of their holding the office of Vice-Chancellor as Acting Vice-Chancellors.

The other terms and conditions of service of the Vice-Chancellors shall be such as have already been prescribed or as may be prescribed by the Chancellor from time to time in individual cases.
