In the application cited above of M/s Hanuman Poly sacks and Jute Products, No. 8A, 8th Cross Bommasandra Industrial Area, Hosur Road, Bangalore-562 158 has sought clarification regarding the rate of tax applicable onPP Woven Fabrics.
2. Section 59(4) of the Karnataka Value Added, Tax Act, 2003 empowers the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes to clarify the rate of tax payable under the Act, if he considers it necessary or expedient so to do, for the purpose of maintaining uniformity in the work of assessments and collection of revenue. It is examined and found that the clarification requested by the petitioner is within the scope of the aforesaid provision and it is necessary that the clarification be issued for the purpose of maintaining uniformity in the work of assessments and collection of revenue.

2. Section 59(4) of the Karnataka Value Added, Tax Act, 2003 empowers the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes to clarify the rate of tax payable under the Act, if he considers it necessary or expedient so to do, for the purpose of maintaining uniformity in the work of assessments and collection of revenue. It is examined and found that the clarification requested by the petitioner is within the scope of the aforesaid provision and it is necessary that the clarification be issued for the purpose of maintaining uniformity in the work of assessments and collection of revenue.
3. Hence the following clarification is issued.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Section 5 of Section 13 of the Kannada Universities Act 1991 as amended in Kannada University (Amendment) Act 1999, I, H.R. BHARDWAJ, Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of the Universities in Karnataka, hereby determine the emoluments and other conditions of service of Dr. H.C. Boralingaiah, appointed as Vice- Chancellor, Kannada University, Hampi vide Notification of even number dated 9th July 2012 as under :
1) Period of Appointment :
Three Years from 10th July, 2012.
2) Pay and allowances :
(i) He shall be allowed to draw UGC Pay Scale of Rs. 75,000/- and a Special Allowance of Rs. 5,000/- per month and DA and CCA as admissible
(ii) He shall be provided with a rent free quarters. If designated quarters is not available, he shall be allowed todraw HRA as per the orders of the State Government issued from time to time in lieu of the rent free quarters.
3) He shall also be entitled to :
(i) Earned Leave , Half Pay Leave and Casual Leave as applicable to the State Government employees.
(v) He shall also be entitled for the benefit of free medical treatment as admissible under University Rules or if there are no such Rules, in accordance with the Karnataka Government Servants (Medical Attendance Rules, 1963.
(vi) He shall be entitled to draw TA/DA admissible to the highest/senior class of officers of the State Civil Service under the KCSRs.
4) His services as the Vice Chancellor, Kannada Univesidity, Hampi, shall not be be counted for any other purpose.
