5th July 2007 In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 21 of the Family Courts Act , 1964, the High Court o Kerala hereby makes the following amendment to the Family Courts (Procedure) Rules, 1989, published in KeralaGazette No. 13 dated 27-3-1990.
Inthe Family Courts (Procedure ) Rules, 1989 :- After Rule 20 , the following provision shallbe inserted as Rule 21 .
Rule21: Destruction ofRecords of Family Courts :
Provisions of the Kerala Destruction of Records Act, 1961 (Act 2 of 1962) shall apply to the Family Courts in the State with regard to the disposal by destruction or otherwise of the records in the popsession or custody of the Family Courts and the procedure prescribed in the Rules in Appendix VIII ofthe Civil Rules of Practice of Kerala shall be followed in the matter of destruction of recorda".

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the notification, but intended to indicate its general purport.)
The High Court took note of the alarming secumulation of old records in the Family Courts in the State, owing to the absence of any specific provision for destruction of such records . The stacking up of old case records eats up the scarce space available in the record rooms of the Family Courts. The High Court after considering the matter in all its detail, decided to incorporate Rule 21 in the Family Courts (Procedure) Rules , 1989 , adopting the Records Destruction Rules in Appendix VIII of the Civil Rules of Practice , Kerala, enabling disposal by destynction or otherwise of the records of the Family Courts,

In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 14 ( 1 ) of Criminal Procedure Code 1973 (Act 2 of1974) , the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thalassery hereby defines the local limits of the areas in which Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Judicial First Class Magistrates shall exercise all or any of the powers which they are invested under Criminal Procedure Code 1973 with effect from the date of taking charge.
