NOTIFICATION

G. O. (P) No. 161/2007/H&FWD. Dated, Thiruvananthapuram, 16th July 2007.

S. R. O. No. 708/2007.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (4b) of the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Act, 2002 Government of Kerala hereby constitute District Level Committee for approving private clinics for performing Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) and Family Welfare Service consisting of members mentioned in column 2 to 5 for each District mentioned in Column (1) and appoint the member mentioned in Column (2) of the Schedule annexed as the Chairperson of therespective District Level Committee. By order of the Governor, DR. VISHWAS MEHTA, Secretary to Government. 2 Explanatory Note (This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

Section (4b) of the Medical Termination Pregnancy (Amendment) Act, 2002 empowers the State Government to constitute District Level Committee for each District and to delegate the powers for approval of places from the State to the District Level Committee headed by the District Medical Officer or District Health Officer and comprising not less than 3 and not more than 5 members. Government have decided to constitute District Level Committee for all the fourteen Districts in the State and to appoint Chairman for each Committee.

This notification is intended to achieve the above object.
