It ishereby notified that an election willbe held at the meeting of the Syndicate tobe held on 29th September 2007 to elect a member of the Syndicate to the Committee for the appointment of Vice Chancellor to be constituted under Section 11 ( 1 ) of the Cochin University of Science and TechnologyAct, 1986.
Only those persons who are in the electoral roll of the members of the Syndicate , published for the above purpose , alone shall be entitled to participate in the election provided that any person who ceases to be a member of the electoral body before the date of issue of ballot paper from the University Office shall not be entitled to participate inthe election.
Everyelector is at liberty to nominate a qualified person tothe Committee. Every such nomination shallbe in the prescribed form and shall be made by an elector in writing and shallbe seconded in writing by another elector . The nomination shallbe accompanied by the consent in writing of the nominee agreeingto serve the committee, ifelected.
Nominations in the prescribed form, which can be had from the University Office , on request , must reach the Registrar not laterthan 11.00 a.m. on 19th September, 2007. The envelope containing the nomination paper should be superscribed "Nomination for election to the Committee for the appointment ofVice Chancellor by the members of the Syndicate ofthe University".

The candidate and a representative of each candidate appointed in writing by the candidate and approvedby the Returning Officer may be present at the time of scrutiny of nominations.
Thewithdrawal of the candidature is to be made by the candidate himself in the prescribed form which can be had fromtheUniversity Office , on request.
The following is the schedule for the conduct of election:
Date of Notification of Election-4-9-2007 1.
Last date and hour for receipt of Nominations- 19-9-2007, 11.00 a. m. 2.
3. Date and hour of scrutiny of Nominations- 19-9-2007, 11.30 a.m.
4. Date of publication of the list of candidates validly Nominated-19-9-2007 .
5. Last date and hour for withdrawal of candidature- 25-9-2007 , 4 p . m.
6. Date ofpublication of final list of candidates validly Nominated-25-9-2007 .
7. Date of issue of letter of intimation-26-9-2007.
8. Date of issue of ballot paper-29-9-2007, at the meeting ofthe Syndicate.
9. Date and hour fixed for the poll-29-9-2007 at the meeting ofthe Syndicate from 11.00 a. m. to 11.30 a. m. 10. Date and hour of scrutiny and counting of votes- 29-9-2007, after the meeting of the Syndicate at2.00p.m.
