The following Act of Parliament published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section I dated the 10th day of September, 2013 is hereby republished for general information. The Bill as passed by the Houses of Parliament received the assent of the President of India on the 10th day of September, 2013.

THE NATIONAL HIGHWAYS AUTHORITY OF INDIA (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2013

(ACT NO. 19 OF 2013)

ACT

further to amend the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988.

BE it enacted by Parliament in the Sixty-fourth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—

1. Short title.—This Act may be called the National Highways Authority of India (Amendment) Act, 2013.

2. Amendment of section 3.—In section 3 of the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988 (68 of 1988), for sub-section (3), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:—

"(3) The Authority shall consist of—

(a) a Chairman;

(b) not more than six full-time members; and

to be appointed by the Central Government by notification in the Official Gazette:

Provided that the Central Government shall, while appointing the part-time members, ensure that at least two of them are non-Government professionals having knowledge or experience in financial management, transportation planning or any other relevant discipline.
