AMENDMENTS/MODIFICATIONS IN THE REGULATIONS FOR CBCSS UG PROGRAMMES UNDER THE SCHOOL OF DISTANCE EDUCATION 2012 (MGU-CBCSS-UG-SDE-2012)— APPROVED—ORDERS ISSUED

ORDER
The CBCSS regulations for SDE was adopted vide UO read (1) above. It was pointed out by the Examination branch that the Clauses 10.3 and 12.1 in the said regulation were contradictory. Further no provision for semester improvement was included in the regulation for the candidates who have failed to secure the required minimum CGPA of 1.5 (C Grade) even after getting a pass for all the semesters with 'D' Grade or above.
The Vice Chancellor exercising powers under Section 10 (17) of Chapter 3 of the Mahatma Gandhi University Act, 1985 has approved the following amendments/modifications in the regulations for CBCSSUG Programmes under SDE 2012 (MGU-CBCSS-UG-SDE-2012)
An additional Clause shall be added as Clause 10.8:
10.8 Candidates who have not secured a minimum CGPA of 1.5 (C Grade) even after getting a pass for all the semesters with 'D' Grade or above, shall be permitted to improve their semester results (SGPA) by appearing for all the Courses in the semester-for attaining a pass in the programme. These candidates shall not appear for Viva, Project, On the job training, MCQ Test and Practical Examinations of the Semester. For reckoning improvement of CGPA, such candidates shall be permitted to appear for the Semester Examination(s) of their choice. The SGPA thus attained shall be considered for the calculation of CGPA only if it is greater than the original CGPA.
Amendments in the Regulation:
1. The clause 10.3 shall be modified as "A combined minimum of D grade for internal (MCQ) and External is required for a pass in a course".
2. The clause 12.1 shall be modified as "For a pass in a Course/Semester a minimum of D Grade is required and for a pass in the programme and for the award of the Degree a minimum CGPA of 1.5 (C grade) is required".
3. The following shall be added as clause 12.2 "A candidate who gets CGPA 1.5 or above, shall not have any chance for semester improvement".
The Table "Overall Grade in a Programme" in Clause 10.6 shall be modified as:

ORDER
The CBCSS regulations for SDE was adopted vide UO read (1) above and was modified vide UO read (2) above.
The Clause 11.1 in the regulation states that semester wise grade cards shall not be issued to the candidates under SDE and semester wise grade cards shall be issued on payment of the required fee.
The Vice Chancellor exercising powers under Section 10 (17) of Chapter 3 of the Mahatma Gandhi University Act 1985 has approved the following amendments in the regulations for CBCSS UG Programmes under SDE 2012 (MGU-CBCSS-UG-SDE-2012).
1. The clause 11.1 shall be modified as "Semester wise Grade Cards shall be issued on payment of the prescribed fee fixed by the University".
2. The clause 11.3 "A separate Grade Card shall be issued with the CGPA of Common Courses alone at the end of IV Semester of Model I programmes" shall be deleted.
