NOTIFICATION

WHEREAS, under subsection (1) of section 33 of the Kerala Cooperative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969), the term of an administrator or an administrative committee appointed to manage the affairs of a society shall not exceed one year in the aggregate;
2AND WHEREAS, the said term of one year of the administrative committee appointed under subsection (1) of section 33 of the said Act to manage the affairs of the Alappuzha District Cable Media Operators Cooperative Society Limited No.A.1137 in Alappuzha District expired on 25th July, 2023;
AND WHEREAS, under subsection (1A) of section 33 of the said Act, the Government may, by notification in the Gazette, for reasons to be recorded, permit the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to extend the term of the said administrator or an administrative committee appointed to manage the affairs of a society for a further period not exceeding one year in the aggregate or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier;
AND WHEREAS, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies has reported that the election to the Board of Directors of the said society could not be conducted within the extended period and has requested to extend the term of the administrative committee for a further period of six months from 26 th July, 2023 to 25th January, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier, to avoid administrative vacuum in the said society;
AND WHEREAS, the Government have examined the matter in detail and are satisfied that it is necessary, in public interest, to permit the Registrar of Co operative Societies to extend the term of the administrative committee appointed to manage the affairs of the said society for a further period of six months from 26th July, 2023 to 25th January, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier, to avoid administrative vacuum in the said society;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by subsection (1A) of section 33 of the Kerala Cooperative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969), the Government of Kerala hereby permit the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to extend the term of the administrative committee appointed to manage the affairs of the said society for a further period of six months from 26th July, 2023 to 25th January, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office,
3whichever is earlier, to avoid administrative vacuum in the said society.

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)
The term of the administrative committee appointed under subsection (1) of section 33 of the Kerala Cooperative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969), to manage the affairs of the Alappuzha District Cable Media Operators Cooperative Society Limited No.A.1137 in Alappuzha District expired on 25 th July, 2023. The Registrar of Cooperative Societies has reported that the election to the Board of Directors of the said society could not be conducted within the said period and has requested to extend the term of the administrative committee for a further period of six months from 26th July, 2023 to 25th January, 2024 to avoid administrative vacuum. The Government have examined the matter in detail and are satisfied that it is necessary, in public interest, to permit the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to extend the term of the administrative committee of the said society for a further period of six months from 26th July, 2023 to 25th January, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier, to avoid administrative vacuum in the said society.
This notification is intended to achieve the above object.
