In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 and 4 of the Family Courts Act, 1984 (Central Act 66 of 1984), and all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Government of
2 Court each at Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam, without filing powers, and notify the 1st Additional District and Sessions Court, Thiruvananthapuram and the 8th Additional District andSessions Court, Ernakulam also as the aforesaid Additional Family Courts, with concurrent jurisdiction over the local areas of jurisdiction of the Family Court, Thiruvananthapuram and the Family Court, Ernakulam, respectively.

This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate it's general purport.)
In considering the heavy pendency of Family Court cases in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts, the High Court has proposed to establish Additional Family Courts and to designate the 1st Additional District and Sessions Court, Thiruvananthapuram and the 8th Additional District and Sessions Court, Ernakulam, also as the said Additional Family Courts without filing powers and with concurrent jurisdiction over the local areas of jurisdiction of the Family Court, Thiruvananthapuram and the Family Court, Ernakulam, respectively.
Government have accepted the proposal of the High Court.
The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
