In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - section (8) of section 24 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974) read with sub-rules (2), (3) and (4) of rule 11 of the Kerala Government Law Officers (Appointment and Conditions of Service) and Conductof Cases Rules, 1978, the Government of Kerala hereby appoint Shri V.V. Jayachandran, Advocate, Vettuchira House, Ulavaippu P O., Cherthala 688 526, as Special Public Prosecutor This is a digitally signed Gazette. Authenticity may be verified through https://compose.kerala.gov.in/

2 for the conduct of prosecution of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985(Central Act 61 of 1985) in the Special Court established under the said Act at

Mavelikkara in Alappuzha District, for a period of three years with effect from the date on which he assumes charge as such.

Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)

Government have established a Special Court for the trial of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (Central Act 61 of 1985) at Mavelikkara in Alappuzha District and notified the Additional District and Sessions Court-III, Mavelikkara, Alappuzha District as the said Special Court under G.O. (Ms.) No.198/2022/Home dated 13 th October, 2022 and published as S.R.O. No. 112/2022 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No. 3950 dated 23rd November, 2022. Now the Government have decided to appoint Shri V.V.Jayachandran, Advocate, Vettuchira House, Ulavaippu P O., Cherthala 688 526, who is having the requisite qualification as Special Public Prosecutor for the conduct of prosecution of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (Central Act 61 of 1985), in the said Special Court.

The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
