WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 8A of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (Central Act 68 of 1986) read with rule 5 of the Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2005, the Government of Kerala had established the District Consumer Protection Council for Pathanamthitta District with effect from 1st day of July, 2007 as per notification issued under G. O.(Ms.) No. 29/2007 dated the 22nd day of June,
22007 and published as S. R. O. No. 568/2007 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.1204 dated the 26th June, 2007;
AND WHEREAS, the term of members of the said Council had expired, as per sub -rule (2) of rule 5 of the Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2005;
AND WHEREAS, the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (Central Act 68 of 1986) was repealed by virtue of section 107 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (Central Act 35 of 2019) with effect from 20th July, 2020;
AND WHEREAS, the Government have decided to reconstitute the District Consumer Protection Council for Pathanamthitta District as the term of office of the Members of the said Council expired on 30th June, 2010;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub -section (1) of section 8 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (Central Act 35 of 2019) read with rule 5 of the Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2021, Government of Kerala hereby reconstitute the District Consumer Protection Council for Pathanamthitta District consisting of the following members, namely:—

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)
Sub-section (1) of section 8 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (Central Act 35 of 2019) mandates that the State Government shall establish, by notification, for every district, a District Consumer Protection Council to be known as the District Council. The term of the
5nominated members of the District Consumer Protection Council, Pathanamthitta District established as per notification issued under G. O. (Ms.) No. 29/2007 dated the 22nd day of June, 2007 and published as S. R. O. No. 568/2007 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.1204 dated the 26th June, 2007 expired on 30th June, 2010. The Government have therefore decided to reconstitute the said Council to include new members.
The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
