NOTIFICATION

WHEREAS, under sub-section (1) of section 33 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969), the term of an administrator or administrative committee, appointed to manage the affairs of a society shall not exceed one year in the aggregate;
2AND WHEREAS, the said term of one year of the administrator appointed under sub-section (1) of section 33 of the said Act to manage the affairs of the Nedumkunnam Service Co-operative Bank Limited.No.1271 in Kottayam District expired on 12th December, 2023;
AND WHEREAS, under sub-section (1A) of section 33 of the said Act, the Government may, by notification in the Gazette, for reasons to be recorded, permit the Registrar of Co-operative Societies to extend the term of the said administrator or administrative committee for a further period not exceeding one year in the aggregate or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier;
AND WHEREAS, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies has reported that the election to the Board of Directors of the said Bank could not be conducted within the above said period and has therefore requested to extend the term of the administrator for a further period of six months from 13th December, 2023 to 12th June, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier;
AND WHEREAS, the Government have considered the matter in detail and are satisfied that it is necessary, in public interest, to direct that the provisions of sub section (1A) of section 33 of the said Act shall apply to the said bank and to permit the Registrar of Co-operative Societies to extend the term of the administrator appointed to manage the affairs of the said Bank for a further period of six months from 13 th December, 2023 to 12th June, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1A) of section 33 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969), the Government of Kerala here by permit the Registrar of Co-operative Societies to extend the term of
3the administrator appointed to manage the affairs of the Nedumkunnam Service Co- operative Bank Limited. No.1271, Kottayam District for a further period of six months from 13th December, 2023 to 12th June, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office whichever is earlier.

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.)
The term of the administrator appointed under sub-section (1) of section 33 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969), to manage the affairs of the Nedumkunnam Service Co-operative Bank Limited.No.1271, Kottayam District expired on 12th December, 2023. The Registrar of Co-operative Societies has reported that the administrator of the said bank could not be conducted election before the expiry of the term and has requested to extend the term of the administrator for a further period of six months from 13th December, 2023 to 12th June, 2024 in order to avoid administrative vacuum. The Government have considered the matter in detail and are satisfied that it is necessary, in the public interest to permit the Registrar of Co-operative Societies to extend the term of the administrator appointed to manage the affairs of the said Bank for a further period of six months from 13th December, 2023 to 12th June, 2024 or till a newly elected committee enters upon office, whichever is earlier, to avoid administrative vacuum in the said bank;
This notification is intended to achieve the above object
