In exercise of the powers conferred by section 109 of the Kerala Co- operative Societies Rules, 1969 (21 of 1969), the Government of Kerala hereby make the following rules further to amend the Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969, the same having been previously published under Notification No. Co-op-
2B1/357/2018/Co-op dated 30th May, 2023 in the Kerala Gazette Extra Ordinary No.1817 dated 31st May, 2023 as required by sub-section(1) of section 109 of the said Act, namely:-
RULES
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Kerala Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Rules, 2024.
(2) They shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of the Rules.- In the Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969, in sub-rule (1) of rule 186 for the entries in item (v) the following entries shall be substituted, namely:-
"(v) Attender and Peon in societies Pass in standard VII and should mentioned in Schedule I of the Act not have acquired any Degree.
(v) a. Attender and Peon in societies
other than those in Schedule I Pass in standard VII.".

3Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport)
Item (v) of sub-rule(1) of rule 186 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Rules, 1969, provides the qualification for the post of Attender and Peon in the Co- operative Banks/ Societies. Now the Government have decided to amend the qualifications prescribed for the posts of Attender and Peon in the Apex Societies where the direct recruitment is resorted through Kerala Public Service Commission as referred to in sub-section (3A) of section 80 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969). The draft rules were previously published as required under sub-section (1) of section 109 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969), as per notification No.Co-op.B1/357/2018/Co-op dated 30th May, 2023 in the Kerala Gazette Extra Ordinary No. 1817 dated 31 st May, 2023 inviting suggestions or objections, if any, in respect of the said draft rules.
Government have received many suggestions and objections, and considered the same and have decided to amend the qualifications prescribed for the posts of Attender and Peon in the Apex Societies where the direct recruitment is resorted through Kerala Public Service Commission as referred to in sub-section (3A) of section 80 of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969. Hence this notification.
The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
