In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 12 and 13 of the Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1951 (Madras Act XIX of 1951), the Government of Kerala hereby constitute the Area Committees of Kasaragod, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Palakkad under the Malabar Devaswom Board, by appointing the following persons as members and nominating one of them as the Chairman of the Area Committees as mentioned against their name for a period of two years, namely:-

Explanatory Note

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport)

As per sub-section 2 of section 13 of the Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1951 , the term of office of a member of an Area Committee is two years from the date on which his appointment is notified in the Kerala Government Gazette. The term of office of the members of the Kasaragod, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Palakkad, Area Committees constituted as per notification issued under G.O.(P) No. 1863/2022/RD dated 25th April, 2022 and published as S.R.O. No. 408/2022 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No. 1396 dated 28th April, 2022 has already expired. Hence the Government have decided to appoint members and nominate one of them as Chairman of the Area Committees of Kasaragod, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Palakkad as per section 12 and 13 of the Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1951.

The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
