WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub -section (1) of section 8A of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (Central Act 68 of 1986) read with rule 5 of the Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2005, the Government of Kerala had established the District Consumer Protection Council for Kasargod District as per notification issued under G.O.(Ms.) No.27/2007/F,CS&CAD dated the 22nd June, 2007 and published as S.R.O. No. 566/2007 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.1202 dated the 26th June, 2007;
2AND WHEREAS, the Government had reconstituted the said Council as per notification issued under G. O. (Ms.) No. 6/2013/CAD dated 21st March, 2013 and published as S.R.O. No. 211/2013 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No. 883 dated 26th March, 2013;
AND WHEREAS, the term of members of the said Council had expired on 31st March, 2016 as per sub-rule (2) of rule 5 of the Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2005.
AND WHEREAS, the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (Central Act 68 of 1986) was repealed by virtue of section 107 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (Central Act 35 of 2019) and the Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2005 was superseded by Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2021.
AND WHEREAS, the Government have decided to reconstitute the District Consumer Protection Council for Kasargod District;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub -section (1) of section 8 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (Central Act 35 of 2019) read with rule 5 of the Kerala Consumer Protection Rules, 2021, Government of Kerala hereby reconstitute the District Consumer Protection Council for Kasargod District for a period of four years with effect from 15th January, 2025 consisting of the following members, namely:—
(a) District Collector, Kannur

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.) As per sub-section (1) of section 8 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (Central Act 35 of 2019) mandates that the State Government shall establish, by notification, for every district, a District Consumer Protection Council to be known as the District Council. The term of the nominated members of the present District Consumer Protection Council, Kasaragod District reconstituted as per notification issued under G. O. (Ms.) No. 6/2013/CAD dated 21st March, 2013 and published as S. R. O. No. 211/2013 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.883 dated 26th March, 2013 expired on 31st March, 2016. The Government have therefore decided to reconstitute the District Consumer Protection Council, Kasargod.
The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
