In exercise of the powers conferred by sub section (1) of section 2 of the Kerala Public Services Act, 1968 (19 of 1968), the Government of Kerala hereby make the following rules further to amend the Kerala Medical Education (Nursing in Hospital Wing) Subordinate Service Rules, 2011 issued by notification under G.O.(P) No. 303/2011/H&FWD dated 11th May, 2011 and published as S.R.O. No. 302/2011 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No. 1027 dated 16th May, 2011, namely:-
2RULES
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Kerala Medical Education (Nursing in Hospital Wing) Subordinate Service (Amendment) Rules, 2025.
(2) They shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of the rules.- In the Kerala Medical Education (Nursing in Hospital Wing) Subordinate Service Rules, 2011,-
(i) In the TABLE under rule 7, in Column (3) 'Qualification',-
(a) In the entries against Category 1, Senior Nursing Officer, the words and symbol "(with Science subjects)" wherever they occur shall be deleted;
(b) In the entries against Category 2, Nursing Officer Grade I, the words and symbol "(with Science subjects)" wherever they occur shall be deleted;
(c) In the entries against Category 3, Nursing Officer, the words and symbol "(with Science subjects)" wherever they occur shall be deleted;
(ii) in the Note below the TABLE under rule 7, the words "in Science subjects" shall be deleted.

Explanatory Note
(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport.) The Government have issued the Kerala Medical Education (Nursing in Hospital Wing) Subordinate Service Rules, 2011 as per notification issued under G.O.(P)No. 303/2011/H&FWD dated 11th May, 2011 and published as S.R.O. No. 302/2011 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No. 1027 dated 16th May, 2011. In accordance with the recommendations contained in the 27th report of the Subordinate Legislation Committee (2014-16) and the redesignation of posts ordered vide G.O.(Ms.) No. 112/2022/H&FWD dated 10th June, 2022, the said rules were amended as per notification issued under G.O.(P) No.79/2023/H&FWD dated 19th October,
32023 and published as S.R.O. No. 1145/2023 in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No. 3531 dated 1st November, 2023. As per the Indian Nursing Council guidelines, candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination in any stream can apply for General Nursing and Midwifery Course. Therefore, the Government have considered it necessary to amend the educational qualification required for appointment to the posts regulated under this special rules in tune with the Indian Nursing Council guidelines.
This notification is indented to achieve the above object.
